A Lampshade transformation project from the Woodooz Studio

A damaged lampshade has been lying in the studio for a while now - A floor lamp from a well known brand made out of rice paper that is quite popular, or so I am given to understand. Unfortunately, the shade was torn and had completely come out of the frame. The customer was not in a state of urgency and so we had time to get this guy back into shape. This is not the first time that we were getting a lampshade for repair and as always we were excited to work on this one.

Unlike the rice paper shade which is known for its ability to fold and get smaller in size, we made the refurbished one with fabric with a hard backing. Just as the customer wanted it to be.

She chose a light cream colored, textured fabric for her erstwhile lamp.It was an apt choice as the shade was tall and there was only one bulb for the entire height. We needed as much light as possible to be dispersed the the cream cotton worked well with the set up.

Don’t have much of the work in progress image. But, here’s how it looked after we did our magic to it. 

We love working on lampshade repair as it opens up newer avenues for us in terms of ideas that we can possibly explore at a later point in time. This was quite a fulfilling project from that point of view. End of the day, we are happy that we can give older shades a new lease of life and as long as the customer is happy and delighted, nothing else matters.
